THAT WAY U AND HER CAN GO SHOPPING FOR THE NECCESARY ITEMS U WILL NEED .JUST ASK HER THE SAME QUESTION THAT U ASK HERE ASK HER TO GIVE U HER STORY ABOUT HER FIRST PERIOD. I HAD THIS TALK WITH MY 11 YEAR OLD AT THE TIME. SHE IS KNOW 13 TEEN AND WE BOTH COME ON AROUND THE SAME TIME EACH MONTH NOW. SHE THINKS THAT THIS IS KOOL. I DO ALSO . AT FIRST SHE WAS NERVOUS ALSO SHE ASK ME COULD I MAKE IT GO AWAY FOR EVER. AND I TOLD HER ABOUT MY FIRST TIME . don't freak you'll be alright. by like your 3rd period you'll be OK. and to tell you your mom say it loud and proud...I GOT MY PERIOD! ha ha. OK you just need 5 things to survive your period: pads, tampons,pantyliner, underwear, and chocolate. And the most important thing about getting your period is not to freak and remember that you will soon be a woman

Don't worry! Getting your period is not big deal. Just make sure you keep a pad with you at all times just in case. You will know before you start. You will spot. Telling your mom is not big deal. When I told my mom, I just plain told her, mom, I think I started my period. Good luck. :)
My first period was nothing special, it was just a surprise. What I would do is make sure you always have a pad/tampon and a change of underwear with you. About getting your period in 5th grade, it might not happen. It does to some girls, but it might happen anywhere up through high school (but I guess you would know ur body better, huh?) Now, your mom. When you find you've gotten it at home and she's there, just simply go up to her (unless she's on the phone), and tell her what happened and that you've taken care of it (which you should have by then). If she's not home, just keep going with normal tasks until she comes home, same with if you're somewhere that's not home. Simply put, if you're prepared and everything is fine when you get it, there's nothing bad about telling your mom, whenever you happen to.

The best thing you can do is keep pads with you. I remeber getting my first period in school. I didn't have anything with me,, and was too embarassed to go to the nurse, so I didn't use anything. By the time I got home my underward had blood all over. When my Mom got home I told her I got my period, she asked me if I was sure, so I showed her my underware.
It's always scary to start your period. When I got mine, I found pads in my mom's bathroom and then went downstairs and told her. She had talked to me about it once so it wasn't that hard, but it can be a little embarrassing, even though every girl goes through it. She gave me some tips. If it starts at school, I suggest being prepared with pads. Don't just bring tampons in case you can't use them. If you are without pads, ask the school nurse for something you can use. It's no big deal. I have had some friends in High School ask the nurse when they are unprepared because they weren't expecting it. It's also okay to ask a female teacher. It would be hard because you don't want to embarrass yourself in front of her, but she would totally understand and remember her first time.
when i had my first period i had strep troat at the time so i was at home. i had a feeling it was going to come soon so i wore a pantiliner every day JUST IN CASE (:
i went to the bathroom one day i i looked and my under wear was shocked. i did'nt manage to tell my mom untill the next day but my sister told her in the end(: she new i was going to have it soon anyway because shed been asking me about it so she was fine with it.
my second one was the worst because it was irregular so i did'nt no when it was coming. it came at school and i had nothin. luckaly i wore jeans and it was fairly light so only a little went through i don't no if antone notticed though):
