I need help telling my mom! HELP!!!!??
Question: I need different kinds of tampons! On my first period I only used pads, on the second period I tried Tampax Pearl Tampons and leaked! ALOT! And now on my 3rd period I can’t use them any more because I am bleeding heavier than ever (because I haven’t had my period in 2 months) I want Playtex sport because I have P.E on Mondays Wednesdays and Fridays and I also go to the Gym on Saturdays with my mom! Help! I need a way to tell her I want Playtex gentle glide for home and Playtex sport for P.E days! HELP! Please and thank you
Answers: When she's just about to go out shopping, just say, 'oh mom I need some more womans things, can you get me these please?'
and either tell her, or you could write it on a slip of paper so she doesn't forget.
Alternatively, if she writes a shopping list, put them on there. Make sure it's not a list that's pinned up in the kitchen though, if it's one she just keeps in her purse that's fine.
You shouldn't be embarrassed talking to your mom about these things, every women finds they don't get on with certain brands.

Ah right. Well, when I started mine aged 12, I didn't tell my mom either. I didn't have anything. She found a pair of knickers I'd put in the bin and guessed.
I've found the best place to break things to your mom is in the car on the way to somewhere, like shopping, or on the way to school (if you're on your own with her of course! no need to scar any little brothers/sisters!)
Just go something along the lines of: 'Oh mom, by the way, I started my period and I wondered if you could some stuff for me? I really like the look of the playtex sport for sport days, and then the gentle slide ones for normal days?'
Or try saying 'Oh by the way mom, and I have some tampons but they're not very good. What do you use? *then she'll tell you* and then you go oh I've seen these playtex sport ones? and the gentle slide ones? They look good. Could you maybe pick some up for me next time you go shopping?'
If you want to break it to her gently, leave a few tampons out in your room where she'll see them. She should come in, and see them and go '?!?!' and you can go oh I started my period. There's some other tampons I want actually...

I think next time she goes to the store, go with her, and tell her, Mom, I'd like to try these, because I have PE and the others were leaking which is embarrassing. If she's ok with you using Tampons, I bet she doesn't care at all which brand or type you use.

just talk to her about it. i guess ur mom is kind of old school but if u tell her the reasons she might understand and see ur point. tell her how much concerned u have of having an accident and be embarrassed at school.just dont take a bad attitude if she says no. and try again when u get ur period again.

Also, be aware that during physical exertion, even Playtex sport may not help. You don't want to use a tampon that is too absorbant for your flow. That leads to toxic shock syndrome. That is also why they make light flow, medium flow and heavy flow tampons. But, during gym you should also consider utilizing a pad as well. Perhaps not a full size pad but some added protection as heavy activity encourages heavier flow so no matter th absorbancy of your tampon you may still have seepage. Welcome to the joys of womanhood!

It shouldn't' be a big deal. You already asked her the first time to get Tampax Pearl, just say that you want to try another brand of tampon. You can always get free samples of brands to see if they work for you. Just to let you know, Tampax pearl Tampons and Playtex sport are the same size tampon. If you would want a more absorbent tampon get the next size up.

i found the cardboard appl super plus work best. leave em for 3 hrs and fugedaboutit! but wear a pad too.....but yes have her try selective brands and if the bleeding is heavy for more that 2 months i suggest some Seasonal birth control pills to help the flow and regulate and clear your skin up too- but not if you have any type of Depression. good luck, girl, just tell your mom you need them for gym and to run about. she will laugh and take you to the store.
Go with her to the store and when you get to that aisle, just say Mom, I didn't like those tampons you got me last time, can we try something different? Trust me, she will understand... she was once your age and in your shoes. I find that the Kotex brand works great for me, but everyone is different. Also, I would wear a pad as well as the tampon so if it does start to leak the pad will absorb it. She will understand!!
I think that you can ask your mom for help in choosing a new type of tampons, but I would also ask her to set up an appointment with your doctor. If you are skipping periods and bleeding through tampons you may need to set up an exam to see what the cause of this may be. It maybe that you are not changing them as often as you need to be, or that you have a health issue. I wish you the best of luck and don't worry about asking your mother she loves you and wants the best for you.

If you want to ask your mom for Playtex Sport you can go to the store with her and tell her you want to pick out your own brand or you could write her a note and leave it in her purse (maybe along with a coupon or the magazine ad so she knows what the box looks like?). Don't be embarassed to ask your mom about these things, she's there to help you. Best of luck!
