Swollen eyelid??
Question: I woke up with a swollen eyelid. its not really that bad and u only notice if i take my glasses off. but this has happened before abuot 5 years back except then it spread to both eyes and they were the size of golfballs for 5 months. it was terrbile. i blamed it on this hairspray i used but even after going to the doctor and getting a cat scan no one could tell me wat was causing it. i just had to wait it out. so i woke up today and its swollen. i put a hot towel on it for a little while. im praying it isnt like last time. its not a stye nor do i have pink eye. the lid does not hurt at all its just ridiculously puffy and itches a bit. any suggestions before i trek it back to the doctor's office. i think i might have rubbed my eye after working on a library computer last night...
Answers: Itching is almost always an indication of an allergic reaction. So you probably have a contact dermatitis. (Allergic reaction of the skin on the lid to something that has contacted the skin). Contact dermatitis cause swelling and itching. If indeed this is a contact dermatitis then taking the appropriate age related dosage of oral benadryl for a couple of days and using some cold compresses should help.
