Who can help pay for my disabled son's uncovered operation to help him walk? We are low-income.??
Question: My son needs SDR surgery and our insurance won't cover it. It's approx. $40,000. We are going to fund raise, but are having no luck finding any organization that may help cover some of the cost. My son has Cerebral Palsy.
Answers: Try contacting St. Jude's childrens hospital or your local Shriners
well yur insurance should help u with some of it @ least
Saint joseph's childrens hospital in tennessee does just this kind of help. They do not charge the family for medical care. The hospital is completly ran by donations. I would start there first, if they can't - they may know who can.
Our daughter has CP and she is covered by Children with Special Health Needs, known in some places as Handicapped Children's Services. We weren't told about it right away, but when we changed pediatricians, the new doctor had a conference with us and referred us. They are wonderful arranging all sorts of doctors appointments, speech therapy, neuro-psych evaluations, medications, everything.
Yes, do check with your local department of health to see if there is a similar agency in your state. They are mostly, if not completely, funded by medicaid. But, even the wealthy can benefit from their services. Don't despair. Get on the phone and start calling.
Good luck!
