Insomnia....help!??

Question: I went to sleep at 4:00a.m. yesterday and it's currently 1:30a.m. now. I can't sleep! I've tried a few times to go to bed and all I do is toss and turn. I can't keep going on four to six hours of sleep a night since I have a toddler.

I've tried sleeping aids (make me wiped out the next day and I look stoned), Melatonin, and red wine. Red wine helps, but I can't continue that route. Please help!
Answers: Daily exercise, healthy diet, and valerian root help me.
You're asking the wrong group LOL! We're all up right now too! Have you heard of this stuff called Calms? It's made by Hyland's. It won't help you tonight, but in the future. I've heard it works pretty well. It's all herbal so there are no side effects. But for tonight, have you tried a glass of warm milk? Maybe try washing your face with warm water. That always makes me tired.
Listen to some soft, slow music before bed maybe? Sometimes stretching or doing easy exercises before bed just to stretch out your muscles and body may help you loosen up and relax. Both of these work well for me. If you still can't sleep you can try something else that helps me when I'm wide awake. Try to concentrate on something like a place or object like for me, it's my grandparents house, and visualize as many details as you can about it. Let your mind wander. Hope this helps!!
Alcohol won't help for sure. While over the counter and Rx sleep aids are a HUGE part of the pharmaceutical industry,
you may want to stick with more natural remedies.

Having opted out of big-pharm long ago, I found that using
therapeutic-grade essential oils and natural products throughout my home has made a world of difference.

For sleep, therapeutic grade Lavender essential oil is very effective. Within 10-20 seconds of inhilation, you should be drowsy enough to sleep peacefully through the night.

Valerian root is another good natual remedy, but can occasionally leave one feeling hung over the next day and should not be used long-term.

Be sure that you are using high quality therapeutic grade essential oils, NOT the 'plug-ins' found in the supermarket.
(these contain toxins like formaldehyde and NO essential oils)

One particularly good source for ingestible oils is Young Living Essential Oils.

Feel Free to e-mail me, if you like.

Good Luck and Be Well~
