What does a sleeping pill do??

Question: I have been going through the day real tired the last 1-2 years and it almost seems like I never wake up..If the DR gives me a pill what will it do? I understand they help but how? Do you feel refreshed at wake? Does it basically knock you out into a sleep? Will I be tired throughout the day?
Answers: I was having problems sleeping and my Dr. put me on Ambien and it helps me sleep through the night. No side effects during the day.

MAKE SURE TO GO TO BED EARLY ENOUGH, so that it can do it's thing. You need to have at least 7-8 hours of sleep time with them. Otherwise, there my be some side effects during the day.
dont they let u sleep comfortably and more longer?
it makes you sleep. You should feel fine after you wake ask a docto.
it's pretty obvious what a sleeping pill does to you
knocks you out to sleep good
They only work for the first few days you try them to help you get back into your sleeping pattern after then you body builds ammunity to them and then they don't work. It's up to you if you want to use them. They can put you into a deep sleep at first.
Sleeping pills actually make you relax into sleep but you don't feel refreshed until the effect is out. If you could deliberately get your mind off stress and actually take some planned good rest, you just might not have need for the pills.
oh my gosh!i beg please DO NOT take any sleeping pills!!my mom couldn't go to sleep for several nights so her doctor gave her a sleep pill.after a month her stomach started hurting.after that she had that problem for 1 year and a half!!!and she sorta got addicted to it like she wanted to take the pill.her doctor gave her pill to cure and stomach and she was still taking lunesta.we were somewhere one day and she had taken the other pill(lorazapam) and lunesta and she just suddenly fainted.so we took her to the e.r. and stuff.now her doctor says not to take lunesta but she takes lorazapam for her stomach and serquel for sleeping.when serquel is for bi-polar disorders and my mom isn't.she had another incident later on too.

SO PLEASE DO NOT TAKE ANYTHING!!!!!!
YOU SEE WHAT HAPPENS TO A NORMAL PERSON!
JUST CAUSE THEY CANT SLEEP....
GOD BLESS YOU AND PLEASE TAKE MY WORD!
Sleeping pills=sleep. If you CANNOT go to sleep at night and spend hours tossing and turning, then yes you go to your doctor and get a prescription. Remember to read the side effects because some of these sleeping pills can have crazy after effects. You also need at least 8 hours devoted to sleep. IF you can sleep through the night okay, then you do not need sleeping pills. Only take sleeping pills if they are absolutely necessary.
