Questions about Dehydration??

Question: I think I'm dehydrated. I had a tonsillectomy on the 7th and have been on an all liquid diet since ... I haven't really gotten much fluid down because it hurts so bad to swallow. I'm not a heavy drinker either a 20 oz of Coke or water will last me from like 8 am till 5 pm. and then I might have a glass or two of water. So how should I go about drinking the gallon of water a day my Dr. told me i need to? It hurts really bad to swallow anything. Thanks for your help!
Answers: Suck on ice or juice or lightly sweetened frozen herbal tea cubes. The cold will usually help with the pain. If warm drinks are more soothing, then drink the teas warm, but not too hot. Or alternate them.
Sorry to hear what you're going through. You can receive water intravenously if you want- it's probably worth the hassle. Blood's where the water goes anyway. But hey here's the real good idea: call your dentist and ask them! =)
i dont know what your age is,but it might take a while for the pain to subside-the older the longer....maximum time is about a month for adults.so you are nearly there! take a painkiller n then drink alot of fluids because if u r dehydrated it will hurt more. contact your doctor if your urine output has decreased immensely and if you are tired.
