My child seems to bruse very easy. What would cause this bruising??
Question: Every day she seems to have new bruises on her, for no apparent reason.Sometimes they come up symetrically at the same time. What can I do to help the brusing from getting worse? Is their something that she lacks in her body? That is causing it
Answers: There are so many answers to this question. Potassium deficiendies tend to cause bruising, but so does anemia. This is really something that should be taken to your daughter's doctor. I bruise easily due to a potassium deficiency. There is nothing major that can be done about this, and it isn't that big of a deal. However, if your child is anemic, that is something that needs to be treated. It is also something that only your doctor would be able to test for and tell you.
I would say diet....a Vit C deficiency will cause this

Almost an endless variety of reasons. Kids tend to knock into things all the time and as a result get bruises. If you are worried check with her doctor. Leukemia, other blood disorders (like low platelete counts), medications, etc. can all be the culprit. To help with bruising, use the RICE principle:
R- Rest the limb bruised
I- Ice. Apply ice wrapped in a cloth as soon as the injury occurs
C- Compression. A wrapped bandage can speed clotting and help keep the swelling down.
E- Elevation. Get the injured part above the heart.
My youngest is the same way. We were worried at first but came to find out he's just a little reckless when he plays.
Causes of bruising easily or widespread bruising include:
Bleeding disorders
Hemophilia
Von Willebrand's disease
Ehlers-Danlos syndrome
Immune disorder
Leukemia
Aplastic anemia
Disseminated intravascular coagulation
Scurvy
You should check with the doctor to see what is the cause of the problem is.
That happened to my first son. At the age of 4 I realized that he bruised easily and that his bruises took longer to heal and go away. He also had several episodes of nose bleeds for absolutely no reason, and he would bleed anywhere between 5-7 minutes. I had him check with his pediatrician and she had him see a hematologist. They ran a test on him where they tested his blood. They first took blood from him then, they gave him this medicine, it was like a nose spray and they waited like fifteen minutes and took another blood test and they compared the two blood tests. His second blood test reacted to the medicine and clotted faster than the first blood test. That is when they realized he has what's called von willebrand disease. It's a condition in the blood that makes a person bruise easier and take a longer time to heal and if he gets a cut or nosebleed he bleeds for a longer time. And he can get nosebleeds for no reason at all.
It is important that you get your daughter checked. In my sons case it is especially important that if he is going to get any type of surgery or oral surgery or God forbid he gets into an accident,or anything that might make him bleed, doctors need to know this 'cause they have to give him a medicine to help control the bleeding. He has a medical alert bracelet for it. I know of people with von willebrands that walk around with so many bruises that anyone might think they are being physically harmed and also people that bleed for 25 minutes or even more. It would be very important to get her checked. Goodluck!
