Would I need hip replacement? *details below*??
Question: I have been having really bad hip pain for the last five years, and no medicine has been able to help it at all, unless it were perscription. They click every time I walk and it's really painful to lay down, walk, sit or do anything like that.... What should I do?
Answers: You may have osteoarthritis (OA) and an xray would likely tell. Go to your regular doctor and tell him of your pain and discomfort. The first thing he will order will probably be an xray of your hips, which is the gold standard for diagnosis of hip OA. If you have had a previous hip xray, be sure the dr. has access to it because then they can use it for comparison to see if the cartilage has thinned.
Once you know what is wrong, you and your Dr. can take steps to treat or manage the disease.
I have two hip replacements after suffering from OA for about 10 years. After about 6 years of pain and increased disability, I finally saw a dr. who put me on NSAIDS and prescribed physical therapy. These helped for awhile but in the end I had hip replacements because I could no longer walk without a cane. Having the surgeries has given me my life back.
ur cartilage in ur socket is worn. my mom had it. they removed some from her knee and put in in, shes hasent has pain sence. ask ur dr about it
How old are you?? Have you seen an orthopedic (bone Dr.)??
If you areyoung they will probably not do a hip replacement quite yet. Have an x-ray of both hips to make sure everything is structurally sound. And go from there.
Most people with osteoarthritis of the hips gradually stop doing things they love, adapting their lives to cope with reduced mobility. In many cases, when traditional treatments are not effective, hip replacement surgery may be appropriate
