How can I quit smoking cigarettes??

Question: I need to quit smoking to get my wisdom teeth out (so that I don't develop dry sockets after the surgery is over) and I need some tips to quit smoking fast, I have my surgery in less than a month. Any help/suggestions would be greatly appreciated. thanks!!
Answers: The way I finally did it was to not light that first one in the morning. See if you can get to lunch without having it. Then, enjoy that one with the pride that you actually held out so long. Then set a time limit for your next one. Stick to this schedule as closely as you can. That first one in the morning is the hardest to give up, but you can do it.

Also, to make it harder, take them outside to smoke when you do have to have one. Leave the package outside in your car so you have to make the extra effort to go get it.

Find a substitute for putting them in your mouth, like lemon drops or even a straw. It can be done; you just have to take it seriously and try not to cheat! Good luck!
As a healthcare provider I can tell you that there is a new medication we prescribe for help in smoking cessation. It is called Chantix. There is a website for it if you want to know more. I have had amazing success with my patient's using this med to quit. I recommend it.
Alright
1: Start the gum to distract yourself
2: Anytime you think, say, want a cig snap yourself with a rubber band that you have around your wrist day and night.
{Example: a smoke would be nice... SNAP! Ouch! Nope never mind}
my mom used to smoke and I have friends who have been working on quiting. They say it's harder then heroin. And that if you can make it through three days without a cigarett your on a role. My friends call it the three day hump. Depending on how much you smoke a day instead of trying to quit it all at once maybe try slowly lessing it and lessinging it so that you slowly get it out of your system and it's in baby steps. Some people I know chew gum or sun flower seeds when they get really strong cravings.
Just quit . It takes a second, and don't put in mind that you are trying !!!
You can decide to stop what you have decided to start.
