What is the difference in pay and responsibility between an Anesthetist and an Anesthesiologist??

Question: I am just entering college interested in both of these careers Please help fill me in!
Answers: An Anesthesiologist is a Medical Doctor with additional schooling and training in specialty of Anesthesiology. There are many specialties an M.D can go into;like Cardiology, Neurology, etc. Anesthesiology, is a high stress career but very rewarding. So you don't want to not go into it strictly for money. Now an Anesthetist is usually an R.N with additional schooling in that specialty. There are 2 Universities that I know of that have programs to be Anesthetist without having an R.N degree, and those are Case Western Univer. in Ohio, and Emory Univ. in Atlanta, GA. Anesthetist make excellent money and the salary depends on geographical location. New grads can make anywhere from $90-100k /yr. and up. A Anesthesiologist can make $200k and up again depends on location and experience. Many can make $500k and up. Don't forget they are #1 in that operating room and you better be there to wanna save lives and not for the money. Good Luck to you.
In Canada and in Britain there is no difference since anesthesia is provided by a Physician, either specialist or a Family Practice physician, with additional training. However, in the United States (and in some other countries as well) there are Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNA) who, under the supervision of a physician, administer anesthesia. So in the USA an anesthesiologist is a physician and an anesthetist is a nurse.

An anesthesiologist is a doctor that has specialized in anesthesia. A nurse anesthetist or CRNA for short (certified registered nurse anesthetist) is a registered nurse that worked in a critical care area for at least 1 year (usually much more) before returning to school for 2+ years for specialty training in anesthesia. CRNAs are masters prepared. (except for older ones that trained prior to a masters degree requirement.) Both anesthesiologist and CRNAs are very educated and capable of delivering quality anesthesia care. The main difference in my opinion is that CRNAs bring compassion and a human touch into the anesthesia setting.

Anesthesiologist is paid more because of their education and they are doctors.

Anesthetist is paid way more than your regular nurses because that is advanced nursing

you have to be a BSN graduate and have at least 1 yr. experince to become a CRNA
there is a CRNA-which is a certified registered nurse anesthetist which means in basicaly you are an anesthesiologist but with out the dr part. you have the same responsibilies in the OR, you don't round at hospitals though like doctors do. the pay is less but you don't go to school as long. you have to have a bach degree and then you complete some requirements like so many months experience in ICU and so forth. then you apply for anesthetist school and it two years there. I want to be a CRNA. each school will requires different qualifications other than the degree. i know a CRNA and she said it cost $15,000 a year to cover herself from malpractice but she can cover that in one months pay and we live in a small rural area. basicly the bigger degree pays more and as more advances on doing other things like specializing in different fields. to do that as a CRNA you would have to go back to school.
A nurse anesthetist is a nurse that went a couple extra years to become a nurse anesthetist. Usually about 4 yrs total. The nurse makes about 80K-100k a year and follows the orders of the Anesthesiologist. The anesthesiologist is an MD that is responsible for all the surgeries and makes 600k +. He went to 4ys undergrad, 4 yrs med school, and at least a 4 yr residency.
