What causes nail-biting in a grown up??
Question: i used to bite my nails when i was a child, but i stop at age 17. now i'm 27, and suddenly i started biting my nails, and i can't help it! i just catch myself doing it, and i tell myself that i have to stop, i quit for about a week and then, out of the blue, i start doing it. what causes this?
Answers: Like a lot of compulsive behaviors, it is a way to deal with stress.
It isn't necessarily a good way to deal with stress, but if the habit has suddenly started again, there might be something in your life that is stressful. Even good things can cause stress--a new relationship, job, new baby, etc.
your probably under alot of stress. My hubby is 41 and he still bites his omg it must be me lol.
It could be a nervous reaction or something. I'm 22 and I've been doing it all my life. I stopped one time for like 2 months when I was like 15 or so, but since then I haven't been able to stop. They say that its a nervous habit.
Or maybe it just gives you something to do with your fingers, u know? Like how some start tapping on tables with their fingers without realizing it.
Any stressors? Could be a reaction to them. Have you talked to anyone?
Nerves?
Maybe you have tasty nails! All joking aside, nail biting is a nervous habit that is difficult to break. I had a 27 year old cousin that used to put hot pepper juice on his fingers, because the nail baiting was not conscious, he would start without realizing he was doing it. There are worse habits of the same kind, one is sucking your thumb; embarrassing when you are past your teens, a dub of iodine seems to help to cure this one. Good luck!

Enema are not like they used to be. It won't hurt it might be a little uncomfortable. A nurse will administer it, it will take about 30 seconds - then you will have to use the restroom.
