How can i convince my father to go to the doctor?!??
Question: Well,lately my dad has been acting weird,it started last year with me noticing that he completley avoids going or talking about the doctor unless it's the dentist or something,Then on new years eve i was home and in my room and he was watching the ball drop on tv,he goes come in here with me,and be with me on my last new years,and i go WHAT?! and he just laughs and plays it off and goes i'm just kidding! I love you! and he said something the other week like Yeah!,i guess i'll tough it out another year under his breath and i get all angry at him and he does the same thing he said on new years..TODAY,i go why don't you go to the doctor and get a checkup of clean health and he sarcastically goes Oh! it's probally too late anyway .......He smokes and is a alcoholic too btw,HOW can i convince him to go to the doctor?! please help.
Answers: you go to the doctor and get your own checkup, leave your dad alone about going til you get your results, then you can suggest he go. respect his choice either way.

maybe the doctor is the one who needs to visit him
Make him take lots of vitamin c pills over a period of time, soon he will get kidney stones and to the doctor he will go!
I had a friend with this problem. We advised her to ask men her dad's age to encourage him. He could be afraid. You must have a support group to prod him into going.

Tell him youre worried for him and if hes joking about what he's said you'll feel fully comforted if he goes to the doctor, and if he isnt joking to tell you because you hate this feeling.

do you have kids? is he a grandpop? it's hard to get a alcohoilc to do anything if you have kids try tellin him they need him and they want him around you do the same let him know that it's not to late it's never to late to go to the doctors it's only to late when he's in a box and thats not where ou want to see him i know it sound a little harsh but it's the truth i wish you all the luck

that really sucks. well you can't really make him go to the Dr. unless he wants to. you can't help someone that wont help themselves. I'm really sorry about your situation but keep insisting that he go to the Dr. and maybe he'll give in.
Well I dont know. If you honestly want him to go to the doctor because you are worried or believe there is something wrong. Sit down somewhere and talk to him and say that you want him to go because of this and because you care and love him.

Or do something to FORCE him to go. The last time my dad wouldnt go to the doc for horrable gut pain. Syrup of ipecac changed his mind quickly....VERY quickly
You can't. BUT...if he passes out you can drag him in and if he gets to hurting bad enough he might change his mind!

Remember, you cannot buy another father at a store, so treasure him and make it a point to get him to the doctors your heart will lead you.
