I know smoking, and drinking coffee are bad but....??

Question: my eye dr. said that was the reason i had cataracts and early stage glaucoma. that just does not sound right to me. i checked it out and i found nothing related to smoking or coffee with my conditions. help?
Answers: Okay...I am a firm believer that a doctor blames EVERYTHING on smoking and drinking. I swear, you could break your leg and he would say it was because of smoking. WTF?!
Smoking slows down the oxygen absorption, by replacing it with a layer of smoke. It aggravates it, but its not a major cause.
You didn't mention your blood pressure. Eyes will deteriorate along with the cardio-vascular system. Blood pressure, in turn, is affected by nicotine, CO2 levels, and stimulants.

There's also a genetic component you might wish to examine.
Have your doctor read the new article about coffee? It said that it contains more antioxidant than green tea. I think you got them more on our environment, TV and computer monitor, because I believe your eye disease is more related to radiation.
This is a new one! I have never heard of this before but like the one above said they blame everything on smoking. They have come out with reports that coffee is good for you. I have glaucoma and I drink coffee and smoke but I had a uncle that died he was in his 90's he drank coffee all day smoked 2 packs of camels a day and he did not have glaucoma or cataracts. So I really can not see how he can make that statement!!! Good Luck!!!
