Dramamine while pregnant??

Question: I'm about 6 weeks pregnant and have been feeling nauseous pretty much all day for the past 2 weeks. i've gotten some good advice on here to help manage it on a daily basis. However, this weekend we are taking a train ride up to the Grand Canyon and i have been instructed that it's very bumpy. I was wondering if I took dramamine would that perhaps keep me from getting sicker than i already am. Also, does anyone know if its safe to take dramamine while pregnant?
Answers: It would be simple matter to ask your OB/Gyn, read a package or go online for contraindications to taking this product. Dramamine is one of the safer OTCs to take during pregnancy but you should check with your OB/Gyn who knows far more about your pregnancy than I.
I wouldn't take Dramamine, the earlier you are in your pregnancy the more chance a medication has of interfering with the healthy development of your baby.

A safe alternative, and one that often helps morning sickness, is ginger. It has been medically proven to be very effective with the nausea of morning sickness AND motion sickness without any side effects.

Although not available at all stores, some compounding pharmacies offer it in capsule form, and many health food or oriental stores offer ginger candy or suckers. Just be sure real ginger is used. Even ginger snaps can be helpful, though I found the capsules and candy more effective.

My Mom's Dr. recommended it to her for nausea when she wasn't pregnant or carsick because it did not have the sedating effect so many medications have.
