Answers: Try warm water with salt diluted, wash your mouth and gargle-this may help!
My mom always told me to gargle with warm salt water.
tea and honey....
i dont like it much cos i dont drink tea but it seems to work
milk
Tea..hot tea. I prefer Earl Gray, because other teas just leave me with a nasty taste in my mouth, and i know that is the last thing you want, esp with a sore throat. Also, gargle with warm salt water a few times a day. Feel better!
yer Salt Warm Water will work. and try Strepsiles. they work pretty good.
Try hot lemon and honey...hot water, lemon and honey...you'd have to taste it to make sure it tastes good for your liking. Also tylenol will help the soreness...if you can't swallow them try mashing it up and putting it in ice cream.
try honey mixed with lemon
You can drink tea. Lots of singers drink tea to help with their throat, including N'sync, that is, when they were popular.
try gargling with salt and water. not too much salt, it'll make it worse, about 1 tsp to a glass.

have a humidifier/vaporizer going

and if your glands are swollen, the spot under your jawline below your ears, then u need to see a dr for antibiotics.
luke warm water with some salt - not too much - mixed in. Gargle gently. Repeat a few times, then sip ice cold water. It will begin to help a bit. And indeed: Lay off the smokes for a few days...
Horehound candy. If that doesn't work, try a spoon full of Drain-O
its free its easy and here it is firstly get hot water not boiling but hot then you get a hand towel and soak it easy hey then you wring it not totally dry of course then you get normAal bath towel and wrap it in towel and tehn wrap around neck yours and then overnight then soreness will leave your troat it works
don't smoke while you have a sore throat. try some hot lemon tea with honey. also if you have any ginger put some of that in as well. this should make your throat feel better.
When my throat is scratchy and it hurts to swallow it's usually late at night before I'm going to bed.

Try downing a glass of milk and a glass of orange juice.

Basically try and get some nutrients and vitamins in your system.
gargle salt water, don't swallow it though! also if you boil some water and have possible lemon or lemon juice and/or honey in the house, warm lemon will soothe while honey will coat the throat. Suck on hard candy or halls, and for heaven's sakes go see a doctor, you may have strep throat! They will give you the good stuff for relief! :)
boil water - put some salt in it, put some ginger, black pepper (crushed) , cinnamon, cloves and drink it. If you dont have one or more ingriedeint, its still ok....but if you have nothing - then just gagrle with the salt water as someone else suggested... and of course - if you can drive to the drug store and buy Nyquil - works like a charm - although you will have to call in sick for at least a day.
gargle w warm salt water or drink tea with honey. If you can, check your throat to make sure you don't see any red or white blotchy spots in the back of your throat...strep's going around right now (my 2 kids and I all have it...ugh!), and if you see that-get to a dr's office as soon as you can, you'll need antibiotics.
When I get a sore throat, I gargle with warm salt water. I use an 8 oz. glass, shake salt into the glass and add warm water. Stir it up with a spoon and gargle all 8 oz. No need to swallow the salt water, just gargle.
Ok...
Warm water with salt in it.... Gargle that and it gets rid of germs and stuff from the infection.

I've also heard that mouth wash works too.

But I'm not sure if it will make it feel better... I think it just gets rid of it faster.

I really like theraflu though, and that stuff that you spray in your throat that numbs it... It taste gross and feels funny at first but you really don't feel anything at all after a while.
I've heard lemons and honey help with sore throats. That's what the waitresses say where I work - I've never tried it personally. You prolly have strep - bad break, have fun with that! It sucks!
Try googling some sore throat remedy and you will find surprising answers. I just had one and I tried having one, hot rameon. It worked. The soup of the rameon kinda sting first but I had no trouble eating, swallowing or drinking anything since then. Except cold water , of course.
There's a yoga position called the Lion It works very very well. Get on the floor on hands &knees, rock back, up-right unill the palms of your hands are restting on your knees. Then after a few seconds of rest with eyes closed, open your mouth as wide as you can at the same time stick your toung out and down at the same time you want to open all your fingers as wide as you can. Hold this posisition for 5 seconds or so and sloly incress the time you push everything until 4 or 5 minutes. It works sounds funny but it does work!
Warm compresses to the outside. Motrin. Whichever feels better: warm or cold fluids. Salt water gargle. Cough drop or candy.
Oh, and by the way, get some Chantix, and quit smoking.
Warm up some juice or tea, put some extra sugar in it. Sugar coats, at least temporarily.
My classmate swears by this:

Grind up an asprin pill (or ibuprophen or whatever you use) until it's as fine as your patience lets it get. Then add it to a cup of warm/not boiling hot water. It should disolve a little, then gargle away. Something about the meds right to the throat makes it work. My husband used it once and nearly danced for joy soon after.
