I shot myself w/ a tetanus toxoid on the arm and it still hurts after 9 hrs??
Question: it feels tender and weird :( please help me
cold compress or hot?
Answers: Why would you do that?
Either....Tetanus is a painful injection and you should be taking something like Tylenol or Ibuprophen (with food) for pain. it will go away soon.
Dont do it once more. It is not good thing.
That is why the doctor usually gives you a tetanus shot in the bu*t. Probably the best thing you can do is excercise your arm to circulate the tetanus toxoid out of the arm and around in the body.
If it feels hot to the touch and tender - I would recommend a cold compress to constrict the blood vessels in the area. Heat would probably make it feel worse. My question is - why would you shoot *yourself* with tetanus toxoid? I hope you meant that you had a qualified health professional do it!! (okay, that was the nurse in me speaking... sorry).
The tetanus shot is an intramuscular vaccine and can cause some achiness. Just take some tylenol and use some warm wash cloths on it. You should know why it hurts though and how to help it if you are knowledgeable enough to properly administer your vaccine.
