I got flue and cold and i am leaving tonight for 6 hours flight i feel my ears and nose r blocked??
Question: do u have any help that can make me good today ?
Answers: If you already have flu or cold, not much that you can do except take medicines to deal with the symptoms.
To get over it faster, you can take LOTS and LOTS of vit c like 1000mg every hour, but it will still take a few days.
If you have fever and are flying make sure you take along some tylenol and some advil to help reduce the fever so that you aren't chilled and miserable the entire flight!
You might try taking nyquil just before getting on the flight. I don't think they will allow it through security, so take it just before going through security and it will make you feel better during the flight and make it easier to sleep during the flight.
Drink lots of water and dress warm.
The only other advice... When descending, your ears are not going to want to clear, and it will get really painful. To force them to clear , you can hold your nose and blow. It helped me...
Not much else you can do besides that...
Good Luck!
Take some benadryl. It is an antihistamine. Should help.
try chewing gum or holding a peice of hard candy in your mouth this should help your ears while you are on your flight..
i dont have a solution for you, sorry, but you should be prepared for the landing because i had a cold too last week and my ears wouldnt unpop during my flight from berlin to paris, paris to porto, lisbon to paris, and paris to USA.
man, was that painful. because i had a sinus infection, my ears wouldnt depressurize and it was horrible sitting through the 40 minutes of pain until i got off the planes and started trying to yawn to unpop my years.
6 hour flight eh? where are you going? somewhere in europe?
I burst both my eardrums when I was in the 8th grade and the doctor told me to take sudaphed on planes and in the mountains.
I don't know if that will help with flu and colds but it could be worth a try.
I hope you feel better. I've heard gargling hydrogen peroxide has helped people with cold and flu. Again, it can't hurt to try it!
For one thing, get some Zicam. It's a nasal spray and it will open your nostrils immediately. This stuff is really good and works quickly. One of the major problems you are going to have, is when that flight takes off and while you are in the air, your ears are going to be constantly popping. This is going to hurt. I don't know that there is much you can do about this now, but try chewing gum the entire flight. As soon as you get on board, put gum in your mouth and don't quit chewing until you get off that plane. The cabin pressure will kill your ears, unless you chew that gum! Good luck to you and I hope you have a good flight. May God Bless You!
