Since the penis is a muscle (i think!) would it be affected in the case of Limb-Girdle Muscular Dystrophy??

Question: My friend with LGMD has lost use of his lower extremities but still has full use of his upper body, including his arms. He is not yet confined to a wheelchair however he really should be. He's still struggling (a lot!!!) using only his crutches (along with many household helpers i.e., grabbers, a walker...) and he receives a lot of help from friends and family! He can still have sex but it kind of seems like it doesn't work as well as it used to. He is 47 yrs. old so it also could be just that he's getting a little older. The overall difference is not an obvious one so it could also just be my imagination. Is the penis actually considered a muscle? I would think that if it is, he wouldn't have ANY use of it, which he does.
Answers: The brain, the intellect and the senses are unaffected in LGMD. People with LGMD can think, see, hear and feel sensations as well as those without muscular dystrophy. They maintain control over their bowel and bladder functions, and sexual function is normal.
The penis is not a muscle, it is basically a tube of skin with sacs that fill with blood to give him a rock hard one.
It's a muscle
tingnan m sa libro!!!!
Its not a muscle. Blood flow is sent to that area and then the blood is constricted to that area.
Muscles are tissues that connect to something on each end, so that they can cause movement of joints. The penis is not a muscle, but it can be affected by nerve problems, blood flow, blood pressure, and chemicals and hormones. He should talk with a medical specialist like a urologist.
The penis is not a muscle but it does have muscles which give it support and some control over its movements. There are also muscles which control the testes and the urinary sphincter and these can play a role in sex too.
Erectile dysfunction. Every heard of that? What doesn't your friend talk to his doctor about this. Sound like he need a lot of help anyway.
Please see the webpages for more details on Limb-Girdle Muscular Dystrophy. The medical literature does not mention about erectile dysfunction of such patients.
Please note that penis is largely made up of three connective tissues.
