I know that really skinny, but I don't know what to do about it?!??
Question: I am only 59 pounds, at 5 0, and I am 14 years old. People make fun of me, and my friends always ask me if I am anorexic, or how am I that skinny, and I get so mad. Becuase I am not anorexic, I eat TONS, but I just don't gain. What should I do? AM I too skinny?
I eat like at least 2,500 calories a day, but I just dont gain, I can eat at McDonald's (Which I don't) all day for a week and i still won't gain.
I don't have diabetes.
I don't have parasites, I don't have anything, no disease.
Both my parents are normal, my mom is slim, but she has a lot of muscle, my brother and sister are normal, and I hav one other sister who is just above the normal weight rnge for her height and age, she is really petite.
Nothing to do with my thyroid.
Answers: Some people just have a very high metabolism. You may want to check with your doctor however, because 59 lbs is very small and could be a potential problem if you grow any more or later on in life. Then again your metabolism might slow down eventually and you'll gain a little weight. Just keep eating healthy (fruits and veggies along with anything else you eat), and you should be fine. Sometiems even being skinny can be difficult.
Your BMI is 11.5 which is considered substantially under weight

Overweight = 25-29.9

Try bumping your intake of healthy, high calorie foods, avocados, peanut butter, nuts. Avoid sugar especially cola. Empty calories and the sugar can suppress your appetite.
I say, as long as you are eating and you know you aren't sick, then relax and enjoy it. Some people's engines just run fast.
Chances are it will catch up with you some day anyway.

Wow you sound like myself. I ate whatever i liked and was like a rake, I was far too thin but I hit 17 and started to gain a bit and looked great with curves. However id say make the most out of the freedom to eat what you like! You will start to gain a little when you get older but youve obviously been blessed with a great lifestyle and metabolism.
I used to have your same exact problem. Now, I'm 18 and filling out. People used to tell me too, just to work out but I didn't want muscles. I wanted curves! You just have a fast metabolism and there isn't much you can do about it, but wait until it slows down.
In the meantime, you can ENJOY being oh so slim! I used to think yeah right when people told me that, but now I see. Enjoy being your size because the people who are bluntly making fun of you are actually envious. The ones that aren't are just being rude and you should just ignore them. No one has the right to make you feel like you have any type of disease.
If it REALLY bothers you, you can ask a parent if they will take you to a nutritionist. They will help you gain HEALTHY weight. The cheaper way would just be to enjoy life. Trust me, America's in a diet frenzy. Enjoy being able to eat whatever you want. It just makes life that more delicious!
Do not worry about it, and start building a thicker skin. Who cares about what people say as long as you are truly healthy?
My guess is that you have a fast metabolism, and you are still growing, and you're young! Your body will regulate all these things soon enough.
I am in my late 20s, 5'4 , and I weigh 128lb. The thing is that I eat a lot too, I eat whenever I want, and whatever I want and I am not fat. I don't even exercise and I have a slim figure.
So don't sweat it too much :)
i know what you are talking about i am skinny myself but i have gained weight. All i did which it worked so it might for ou to.After you eat dont like run or be really active cuse all you will be doing is burning all that food off.then eat right before you go to bed.peanut butter sandwhiches work too
The only way to gain weight 'healthily' is to lift weights for muscle mass gain. In order to do that you will need to follow a strict workout schedule with a set diet plan. You will also need to take nutritional supplements. But you may be too young to begin lifting weights seriously yet. Talk to your doctor and to a gym/fitness experts. Join a gym and begin laying the groundwork for future weight lifting by keeping flexible and doing leight exercises. You can begin with a workout program around the age of 16 or later. Some people will have you believe that it is possible to gain weight/muscle mass just by eating more. But my experience shows that you need dietary supplements, i.e. protein shakes. Gaining weight/ controlling weight can not be done overnight, it requires patience, planning, discipline and long term vision. NEVER eat at MCDonalds or any other junk food. While you are thinking about weight control you may as start eating and exercising healthy for the rest of your life. Good luck! Oh, and there's a book called 'Scrawny to brawny' that you might want to check out.
u should go to a nutritionist. tell ur doctor to send u to one. they can help. it helps as long as u stick to what they tell you to eat nd when and how much. but stick to the plan or else it wont work. trust me.
59 pounds? have you been to the doctor and had a checkup? There can be many reasons why you wont gain weight, including stress, anxiety,Heredity, even psychological.
