What is the best exercise to lose belly fat??

Question: I have read a few posts on this and never saw a definite answer. I cannot walk for more than a block nor can I run - bad back. I am doing Atkins and have lost 40 pounds. I now have much belly fat and need a specific exercise that I can do that will not affect my back.

I am 64 years old and it is hard to lose this weight that I gained because of Diabetes type 2. I should say I gained weight and then got Diabetes.

I just need a couple exercises for this problem alone. By the way, I still have 30 pounds to lose and guess where most of it is.
Answers: Congratulations on your weight loss! It can be a real struggle, especially the abdominal fat. I see you have received lots of great suggestions for exercises. I also noticed you mentioned you still have more weight to lose. There is a natural product that lowers your blood sugar so you can successfully control Type 2 Diabetes and lose weight. I have found their products really work! Lowering my blood sugar has helped me keep my blood pressure, which was a problem, under control without medication and lose weight too. The manufacturer guarantees the product to be successful and their are no side effects. The product is called Diamaxol and I found out about it at www.after40weightloss.com
crunches...you cant beat em for toning the tummy.
yeah, try pilates and the other stretches and exercises..
my mom have diabetes she was getting so sick and he blood level will go up and down so she used that as an excuse to lose weight she lost over 60 pounds by eating healty and watch she eats best thing to do is go see ur doctor and have t hem give u diet plan that what my mom did as well.. good luck!
i think that you should try push ups, any kind of push ups would do but the one holdin your neck and making your nose touch your knees is better! u should at first lay down and put your feet a bit near your butt, and then hold your neck, that's what usually people hold but i recomend that you hold your ears and then make your nose touch your knees withou using your hand or anything! kind of difficult for first time but you'll get use to it, 30 push ups a day would do! best of luck
Hope this helps.. if not.. try this site:

With this 10 minute exercise routine you can burn up to 150 calories every single day.

The first two minutes of this fat burning routine is: Jump Rope - Begin by performing two jumps for each turn of the rope. Safety: Use the correct size jump rope and always land softly on the balls of your feet (that is the upper part of the bottom of your foot). Keep thinking I am losing weight.

Minutes two to three: Squat Thrust into a Push Up. The proper technique for this exercise is to stand with your feet shoulder width apart and your arms strait down next to your sides. Slowly squat down with your head forward and bring your hands to the floor just outside of your feet. Your hands should be pointing forward as well. Then in one movement, push your legs back and out behind you (into a pushup position). Perform one strict pushup and then jump back into your squat position and then stand back up. Keep thinking, the fat is vanishing.

Minutes three to four: Jump Rope with only one jump per turn. Keep thinking, The fat is melting away.

Minutes four to five: Back to the Squat Thrust and Push Up only this time you are going to add the Side Plank. After completing your squat thrust and push up, you are going to lift and rotate your left arm off of the ground and over your head. Your left foot will rotate and rest on top of you right foot. And you will rotate your neck so you are looking up at your ceiling. Rotate back to the center and repeat on the other side. When finished, hop back into your squat position, stand up and start again. Keep thinking, no more belly.

Minutes five and six: Jump Rope. Same as minutes three and four. keep thinking, I am losing body fat.

Minutes six and seven: Back to the Squat Thrust and Push Up only this time you are going to add the Leg Lift. This is the same as minutes two and three only this time you will lift the toes of one foot about twelve inches off of the ground only after you have performed your push up. Lower your foot and repeat on the other side. Hop back up to your squat position, stand up, and start again. Keep thinking, goodbye belly.

Minutes seven and eight: Jump Rope. Same as minutes three and four. Keep thinking, my belly is getting smaller.

Minutes eight and nine: Back to the Squat Thrust and Push Up only this time you are going to add Mountain Climbers. Repeat everything as in minutes two and three only this time after your push up, you will quickly jog in place from your push up position. Make sure you bring your knees up to your chest on each rotation. Perform 5 jogs and repeat this entire process. Keep thinking, I am going to lose weight.

Minutes nine and ten: Jump Rope. Same as you first two minutes. Keep thinking. If I do this everyday, I will lose belly fat. Good luck to everyone.

We recommend using a soft padding such as a yoga mat when performing this exercise. This will cut down on any injury and save some of those knee joints for you. If you need more information on gym mats and yoga mats, please visit Ultimate Fitness Equipment - for all of your fitness needs.
Sounds like this is something only plastic surgery and liposuction will take care of. You will never be able to lose it completely.
Since you have done the Atkins diet, that is aimed at targeting belly fat and diabetic and pre-diabetic conditions.
I would suggest trying to get hold of an Ab Lounge exercise chair. You sit fully supported-neck, legs, back, etc.. But since you've lost so much weight, the remaining fat can only be lost thru surgery.
I do crunches. I know it's old fashioned but I love them, and they are quick and easy, and they really work.....
The best exercise to lose any kind of weight is to jus move your lazy but off the couch and get moving duh!
The best exercise is reaching for the carrots sticks instead of the beer.
go up and down stairs for as long as you feel can manage remember don't overdo it otherwise you will be laid up for a week and continue with what ever you are doing as it sounds as if you are doing the right thing and congratulations on losing 40 pounds that is fantastic
This is going to saound funny in a way but I swear by Richard Simmons. He may be the fruitiest man alive but this man knows how to work it out. I have been doing his exersice for the last 6 nobths, I have lost 50lbs and have no lose skin anywhere. He has one out called Disco Sweat and there is a fat burning on that you need a retention band for, it works very very well.
Honestly the best work out for loosing weight is running because it works out your whole body and crunches/sit ups only pack more onto your belly because they develop muscle under the fat. Running works out your back, your arms, your abs, your calves, quads, and the whole shebang while also reducing weight.

Eat healthy, Drink plenty of water, and RUN like hell.
there is no way to spot-reduce fat. even if there were, all the ab exercises(crunches and the like) and machines WILL affect your back. you need a balanced regiment of training that involves weights, cardio, and resistance. you need to go do your doctor and get a regime that works for you, and you will never lose that belly fat without strengthening your back.

btw, yoga is GREAT for your back. my Y has a class called Gentle Yoga, and has another general class that JUST strengthens your back. look for a class like that, but only after going to your doctor. you don't want to hurt yourself.
belly fat doesn't go away with exercise. All you can do is strengthen the muscles under the fat. To remove fat you need to keep eating less flour and sugar products and keep your calories below 2000 a day. What often happens with people who have been heavy for a long time is the skin stretches. Once the weight is lost, especially quickly, the skin will not tighten up right away or sometimes at all. You may need plastic surgery to remove excess skin after you are at your goal weight.

If the excess skin is not that bad just live with it. I had a friend who lost over 100 lbs and had to have the skin removed because it would never shrink back to where it was.
you will have to ask your doc for professional help
Pilates is the best to strenghthen your core. It will also strenghthen your back at the same time. Check out the Mari Windsor Pilates videos. They work wonders.
Try swimming- its low impact for your back and not too stressful. Best stroke for stomach is butterfly.
Here is an idea that most diets seem to brush by. Eat less food. Do not eat more than your own body's metabolism can burn off. Just a thought, but it seems like a logical place to start. I do not mean to imply that exercise is not good. It can not hurt to exercise, and I not trying to make it sound like eating less is easy. Trust me my favorite hobby is eating good food. There is a lot of will power involved in what ever road you take in dealing with this issue. Good luck in achieving your goal with whatever path you choose to do so. :)
can you do any type of stretching? try yoga and crunches..
