Whats a good breakfast for energy??
Question: I have diabetes and my doctor and I are trying to get as much wieght off me as possible to get to a healthy wieght. I wieght 220 and am 5'7.
Im pretty good with all the other meals of the day, but its hard for me to figgure out a healthy breakfast that will help me have high energy. I am going to start working out in the mornings before breakfast(i think b4 im not sure yet) for energy and my doctor has me on a medicine to help me lose the wieght(adipex). But by like 12 or so all my energy crashes and I have no motivation to go and do anything. I am not sure if it has any thing to do with the diabetes or if its the medicine or if either have anything to do with it.
Anyway what are a few suggestions for a good healthy energizing breakfast? I know protien is good but what else? And what types of protien?
Any suggestions are welcome.
Answers: A boiled egg, a bowl of Special K with FF Milk and strawberries. Glass of OJ.
Hmm...I think people with diabetes are actually not supposed to ingest huge amounts of protein (i.e. shakes) because it's hard on their kidneys. Honestly it depends on what your body needs. Everyone is individual. I know it sounds cheesy but asking your body what it needs can lead to choices that are best for you.
Wheat grass is a great pick-me up before that 12 o'clock slump. I know it sounds gross, and yes it's literally like drinking grass, but it does give a great energy boost. Buy some in powered form and add water, drink in morning before breakfast and later at mid morning. Some people mix with juice or milk. Oh and take a Multiple B vitamin. Should give you energy and might even help with the weight loss. They're also water soluble so they shouldn't cause any problems. (other vitamins can actually cause organ damage if you take too high a dose). B-12 sublinguals are especially great for energy. Might help out a lot. Just check with your doctor.
Oatmeal is a good bet. If you need protein you can add walnuts as they're high in omega 3 acids which is good for anyone. Eggs are also a good bet but alternate with something else...whole wheat pancakes with flax seed in them are also great. Just use a bit of honey or fruit preserves to sweeten instead of syrup. Grapefruit is wonderful.
Good luck!
Seriously though...try the B-vitamins. And ask the doctor, because your meds may make it harder to absorb vitamins or actually deplete them as a side effect. There may be other vitamins you need to supplement with.
50 hard boiled eggs

You have stated you have at least one medical condition....diabetes. Taking and pill that promises to curb your appetite and make you lose weight is dangerous.

Sadly, there isn't anything you can do to force him to change. However, you can (and should) encourage him to try alternatives to his normal fare. Definitely express your *perception* of his diabetes
Sounds like you are doing great. Keep up the good work.
taxing sugar is silly. Sugar comes in a lot of different forms, and eventually that would mean that a lot of things are taxed not just sugar.

Yes it is a very healthy weight. I'm 13 at 130 pounds and I'm 5'4 too, and I'm NOT considered over weight. So for your age you are at a very good weight. Keep it up =>
The fact that you are headed for heart disease and diabetes yourself if you don't get a hold on this should be inspiration enough! No doubt the antidepressants had alot to do with you gaining weight.
