Where does fat come from??
Question: Apparently a lot of people here believe that fat comes from glands, medications, and so forth. People, it comes from what you eat. I don't care if you have diabetes, asthma, thyroiditis, fibromyalgia, depression, or what. You simply can't gain weight if you burn more calories than you take in. It's impossible. The body cannot manufacture fat from nothing.
I have diabetes, fibromyalgia, just got over depression, yet continue to lose weight just by watching what I eat. I do exercise, but not significantly. I just make sure I eat lots of vegetables with some fruit. I keep carbs, fats, and sugars to a minimum. If I keep my calories under 1800, guess what? I lose weight. If I go over 2000, I gain. It's really that simple. If you're making excuses about medications, illnesses, or glands, you're doing yourself a disservice. Time to rearrange your thought processes to think: Eat to live, don't live to eat.
If I offended anyone... good. That's tough love. Hope it made you think.

Answers: G D it's about time someone said this. There are some illnesses that will make it harder to lose weigh like diabetes and hypothyroidism but proper diet and exercise can help offset many of these ailments. The fact of the matter is that most people only blame things like hypothyroidism without even having proof that they suffer from it (like a hormone screening).Proper diet and exercises as well as medications are recommendations by professionals for these conditions though there are a few unfortunate individuals that will never see a dramatic difference. The best way to continue to suffer from weight problems is to continue to make excuses.I have a screaming metabolism but I've nearly doubled my body weight since I started lifting 22 years ago.The eating was as big a chore as the lifting but it paid off by learning about it and consuming 7000 calories a day through 6-8 meals religiously for years. And fat sure isn't stored as droplets but as cells in your adipose tissue further exemplifying the need for education in combating such diseases.
Well dipshit everyones body is different. Good for you - im glad u have the courage to go barf after every meal. Oh come on, you know you do it
your body makes fat cells when there is fat in your body, when a person consumes too many calories. the fat cells never go away once they are created...no matter how much you exercise or diet. what happens is the filling of the fat cell, the actual fat (it is an oil droplet in a sac) empties as you lose weight. when a person consumes too many calories, the empty sac refills with fat easily. that is why it is very easy for people to gain weight back after losing it.
so yes, being overweight at one time puts a person at a disadvantage. i guess the only way out of that is to prevent this from happening in the first place.
Bad carbs and sugar, not to mention lack of exercise. I'm a physical therapist, I should know

it can also depend on whether your body is sensitive to certain things like carbs, protine, calories, etc. like for me ,my body is sensitive to carbs. It won't matter if i'm really good about calories, if i have too many carbs, i still won't lose weigh. ... it's sounds like you are calorie sensitive.
It's also better to eat smaller portions through out the day as opposed to just 3 meals a day. It will keep your motabolism up so your always buring food, and it's better for people who are diabetic. It will condition you body into to buring everything it doesn't need becuase it knows in acouple of hours it will be getting more.
You might also want to thing about drinking tea. it will help calm you.
