Question about diet and weight loss??

Question: i've been dieting prety strict over the past week and i've noticed my breath has a fruity taste to it. i asked my friend about it and she said thats a sign of diabetes but it also is caused when ur dieting and ur body starts to burn the fat. That would be a good thing. Someone else told me however that the fruity smell is from ur body burning carbs or sugars, which i dont want, i want the fat to be burned. So does anyone know which is it, or if its something else. I know i dont have diabetes, that not my question, i just want to know what causes the fruity smell in the breath, the body burning fat or something else. Thanx :-)
Answers: First of all, if you're REALLY concerned, see your doctor....I've never heard of 'fruity breath' but don't stress about burning carbs and sugar. The point of food to replenish these nutrients for your daily activities, but while you're trying to lose weight you should be burning more (or at least all) carbs/sugar than you're taking in. Otherwise, the extra energy you gain from these nutrients is stored in the body as fat. As long as you're burning carbs/sugar/calories you should be losing weight and that's the most important thing! Good luck! (I'm in the same boat!)
