Maybe its a coincidence. Maybe you got sick at the same time as you got braces

I doubt you are dying but you might be having a reaction. You could just have gotten a cold around the same time as the braces. I got a rash when I got braces the first time too but it went away in about a week.
I would rinse your mouth & garggle with salt water once or twice a day it will help the rash and if you have a sore throat.
Then call the dentist on Monday and tell them what is going on.
If he wants to check up on you he will tell you to come on in.
If you get a high fever seek medical help right away because that is a very bad reaction or a bad cold and either way you should see a doctor.
