I just had my bottom two wisdom teeth cut out 3 weeks ago, now I have a head cold, this is my question...??

Question: I know a dry mouth isn't good for me right now. I also know that at 3 weeks it is REALLY unlikely for me to get dry socket. But I know if I go to sleep tonight, and I can't breath through my nose, that will dry me out more than anything. I know a decongestant will do the best job... will it hurt me? Or should I stick with just an anahistamine? It won't do as well. I would prefer any answers from someone in the dental or medical field. Thanks!
Answers: Having a dry mouth won't cause a socket...One of the reasons for a dry socket is the blood clot is lost following the extraction, leaving the jaw bone exposed. After 3 weeks the socket is well into healing.
Take care of your cold and drink lots of liquid...
Feel better soon
You're going to be fine; if you're not past the point where you could get dry socket now, something would be SERIOUSLY wrong with your healing process! For your comfort, however, there's no reason you can't take a decongestant.

Don't take an antihistamine alone; they will just dry you out even worse.
The last answer's good, just keep water next to your bed. You won't get dry socket (which has nothing to do with a dry mouth and only happens in the first 3 to 5 days after an extraction)
