Cold sores are usually in the mouth...it is an open sore and the bacteria cause the pain...best thing to do is aopply salt to the wound...it will hurt for awhile, but the salt will kill the bacteria, and force it to heal...alternatively, put som salt onto water and swuch it around...be the way, salt water is sometimes used to make your gums healthy, you can brush with it...Same reason, bacteria cannot stand a salty enviorment...
