Is it possible to split your tooth by eating something really cold and then something really hot??
Answers: Your tooth is not glass!
Your tooth has been designed by nature to be somewhat resilient. You probably wouldn't think a bone is flexible, but it is flexible to some degree.
If you eat a hot food (not hot enough to burn you) and then drink cold liquid, then your tooth will flex to the changes of temperature and expand and contract with your gums, which are also flexible.
HOWEVER, there are certain restrictions to this rule.
Root Canals - your tooth has stopped taking in minerals and is very brittle. It COULD shatter if you eat hard foods.
Fillings - may make your teeth brittle, metal expands and contracts, if it expands or contracts too much, the filling may shatter.
Be careful and don't burn yourself.
For GAWD sakes don't chew on ice.
yeah, then u'd have 2 visit ur dentist 2 stick it bak 2gether. it don't grow bak in place, ya know. btw, its da other way around.
Yup you can i have a few little cracks. It's just like putting a glass bottle full of hot water in the freezer. Watch out it will crack! It's just hair line cracks, nothing to worry about. You can't do anything about them, just live with them
Sure it's possible. More often though it's the folks who chew on ice get lots of fine cracks in their teeth, require more root canals and generally have more problems with hairline fissures and abcesses.
Generally, it helps to let your mouth adjust to extreme temperature changes gradually. The nerves in the teeth will thank you for it.
uhm...What? Like eating icecream and hot soup right after?
No, teeth are the strongest part of your body.
edit: haha, Krissy. By nature? ha...
