Is it true that if drink something hot and then drink something cold your teeth will crack??
Answers: The incident of a tooth fracture is influenced by the following CONTRIBUTING factors:
1. Whether the tooth has any dental restoration (fillings, crowns, veneers)
2. Whether the tooth was treated previously with root canal therapy
3. Age (dehydration of the dentinal layer, beginning at age 45+)
4. Bruxism (grinding teeth at night)
5. Occlusal trauma (misalignment of teeth)
6. Thermal stress (temperature changes)
Of these AGE and and ROOT CANAL are the two most significant factors.
But, generally, the more of these factors are present, the more likely the tooth may crack!

It may be possible for other things, but you can't expose your mouth to such extreme temperatures (hot or cold) without feeling pain, so you couldn't crack your teeth this way. Cracking your teeth with fillings in them makes a little more sense because the filling is a different material that is more sensitive to temperature.

i think so.i once put a very hot food in a glass plate and it got cracked like i hit it on the floor and the pieces are held together.If this was possible then i believe the teeth can do the same:it can get cracked by hot food.Another example for cold part is that; boil an egg taken from the fridge in a warm or hot water.minutes later,the egg gets cracked because you introduced the egg to an extreme temperature without using a gradual process to allow the egg to adjust with the new temperature.Another example is: when you go to Africa for the first,you will think the weather is extremely hot,i am used to it but when i am in the hottest part of the US i shiver from cold but u don't because you are used to cold weather.These should example to you that you expose your teeth outright to a temperature which has wide difference between it's temperature and the new temperature,it will crack because it wasn't gradual.
