Had a cavity filled. Sensitivity question within??

Question: Ok so I got a cavity filled on my upper farthest back left tooth. It was a horizontal dark slit that my dentist filled positioned about a quarter of the tooth down from gumline. He numbed it up. After the numbing wore off about 6 hours later I started to eat and drink. Before the cavity being filled it was sensitive to cold water. When I drank cold water 6 hours later it was not sensitive. 2 full days later, I woke up, drank cold water and it was sensitive again, somewhat more sensitive than before. But not overly sensitive where its painful. The sensitivity lasts for a little while. Why would it not be sensitive after being filled and than suddenly be sensitive again. I brushed the area a few times, but from what I noticed I didnt brush that hard.

Should I just give it some more time and maybe I did irritate it somehow? did my tooth have some sort of relapse or something heh? This was the first time I ever had a cavity filled. I also had a very small one done.
Answers: I would give it a little more time. I was told that sensitivity can last for 10-14 days. But after that, I would call my dentist back and ask to see him/her. You may have a problem with your bite, after having that tooth filled. Your bite may need to be adjusted.
Ok, As a rule, after you have had a tooth filled there should be only a slight change in how you tooth may feel on that side of your mouth. I have had several fillings done over the years and I never had that problem before that you are haveing. Have you rubbed your tonge over the tooth that you had filled and does it feel like the filling is still there? The filling may have also come loose too. You my need to go back & see the Dentist again. I wouldn't wait a week though as the dentist may try to say that you ate something that loosened the filling and try to charge you again just to correct his mistake. Now that I think about it I did have a filling come loose the dy after I had it filled and i called the Dentist right away and he had me come right back and he fixed it. NO CHARGE! He told me that if I had waited then he would of had to charge me to correct it. Call him up and let him know just what is foing on. Insist that you did everything that he told you to do after he did the filling! (I hope that you did?) No eatting or drinking untill the numbness wore off, sometimes up to 10-12 hrs. later. I hope that this has helped you in some small way!! Good Luck!!!
