Does anybody know if acupuncture helps with migraines? I was thinking about getting a treatment done.??
Answers: Probably not.
Magnesium helps in some cases.
You can find further information in a search for migraines + magnesium.
Girlfriend and I are acupuncturists. She suffers from migraine headaches and we have clients who come for treatment for migraines.
We've had positive responses in lessening the frequency, severity and duration of migraines with the use of acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine.
If you are in the USA, http://www.nccaom.org is a good place to start to finding a qualified acupuncturist in your area.
It depends on how good the acupuncturist is. Most ones in the US are not that good, though so it's really 50/50.
I know an expert Chinese doctor personally, and he told me that from his experience, migraines are normally a result of the energetic flow in a meridian line called the governing vessel being blocked and unable to circulate (normally it goes crown of head down front to perineum, and then up on the backside to the top of the head). From experience, he has found nearly all migraine patients don't have this flow of energy working properly, and it tends to get stuck around the middle of the back up to the neck. When he moved here in the 70s, he treated about 800 people with migranes, and this worked nearly every time. However, at the same time this condition is very rare in China, so no remedy exists for it in TCM, he just discovered the preceding himself (and most practicing acupuncturists here do not have the ability to do that).
So to make a long story short, if you see an accupuncturist they may be able to help you (depending on their skill), but if you want the probably completely fixed, you'll probably need to explain what I just said to them and ask them to fix it. Most likely you'll get some things that will help with the pain otherwise, but the root condition won't get removed.
Hope that helps!

Oh Ezra, these questions are so heart-breaking.
It does depend on whether the spinal column was severed or not.
If it was, then I'm afraid that there is nothing that I know of that can help.
